Abstract: 

Writing a good quality research report is tough work. When the time comes to writing, many feel left to their own devices. However, writing a research paper involves not only literary abilities but also, above all, a matter of organization. With the growing need to publish, you should be equipped with the skill-sets on the best way to present your ideas. This writing workshop is designed to help you through the process of creating an effective research report. This workshop aims to instill in the participants the essentials of research writing while also providing best practices, tips and tricks on how to write effectively and concisely. Specific examples will be provided to support the process of organizing your work and getting your thoughts down on a paper while revision techniques will help you to improve the quality of your writing.

 

Speaker:

Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan is senior Professor and former Chairman at the Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka; Senior Academic Adviser, BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD); and Chairman, Bangladesh Tropical Forest Conservation (Arannayak) Foundation. He pursued his higher education and research in the University of Wales Swansea, University of Oxford, and Asian Institute of Technology. Some of his other former positions include Asian Development Bank (ADB), South Asian Fellow, Oxford; Distinguished Visiting Researcher, The American University in Cairo; and Distinguished Visiting Professor, Asian University for Women (AUW). His articles/chapters have appeared in journals and books with reputed publishers such as Routledge/Taylor & Francis, Springer, Sage, Oxford University Press, and Elsevier. He has conducted extensive research on diverse issues such as environment, natural resource management, and social/community development.
