The Bachelor of Economics programme is designed to provide solid grounding in theory and economic knowledge and improve the critical and analytical skills of students. The core and elective courses are shaped to produce graduates with broad based as well as specialized knowledge. Since 2015, the newly introduced specialization system has provided students the option to specialize in one of four (4) areas, namely;

A student will graduate with a specialization after he/she has completed the programme requirements and fulfils a minimum of 9 courses (27 credits) from a particular specialization.
The academic programme follows the semester system and commences in September (Semester I) and February (Semester II). The minimum period of study is 7 semesters and the maximum period of study is 11 semesters.

A non-citizen applicant who obtained his degree from a university or institution of higher learning which does not use English Language as the medium of instruction for the relevant degree who wishes to follow a degree programme of study and/or write his dissertation in the English Language shall fulfil the English Language competency requirement determined by the University as in the paragraphs below.
