SWRC's Visiting Expert, Dr. Amjad Rabi, discussed how development impacts Malaysia's ability to ensure affordable food. He emphasised that while development contributes to economic growth, it also affects food accessibility. Dr. Rabi pointed out that rising living costs, wage stagnation and insufficient policy measures complicate the affordability of food, particularly for lower-income groups. He urged the government to implement more effective strategies to balance development with equitable access to food resources, ensuring that the public can sustain their nutritional needs despite economic challenges.
