Empowering Nations to Conduct Large-Scale Surveys on Older Persons

As Asia faces rapid population ageing, this workshop marks a vital step in building regional capacity to generate high-quality, comparable data to inform evidence-based policies for older persons.
The Social Wellbeing Research Centre (SWRC), in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), successfully conducted a three-day capacity-building workshop to support regional partners in planning and implementing national ageing surveys. The virtual workshop included 35 participants from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, including researchers, government officials, survey practitioners, and policymakers.
Workshop Highlights
Objective:
To build capacity in conducting large-scale, longitudinal surveys on older adults that are cross-nationally comparable and rooted in best practices from the Malaysia Ageing and Retirement Survey (MARS).
