Professor Dr. Muhammed Haron is currently Professor at the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Botswana, and Associate Researcher in the ‘Study of Islam’ programme at the University of Johannesburg. He was previously attached to various institutions such as the University of Stellenbosch, Rhodes University, National University of Malaysia, University of the Western Cape, and University of Cape Town.
Additionally, he also contributes to the community, interalia as a Board Member of An-Nur School (Gaborone), and as Consultant to Botswana Muslim Association.
Dr. Haron has also published extensively in the fields of Arabic, Islamic and religious studies; international affairs; South African affairs; and education. He has been conferred numerous research awards for his work, such as ASAIB Award for Best Bibliography in Southern Africa, UB Humanities Researcher of the year award, Andrew Mellon Fellowship, and Education Opportunities Council Fellowship.
