Design Thinking may well be the mother of innovation without which any organization in the long-run risks getting extinct. In order to survive businesses in ASEAN have to evolve and in order to evolve they must innovate. Assoc Prof. Dr. Sameer presented the paper with relevance to Industry 4.0 at the recently held International Conference ICACEST 2018 in Penang. Here is the synopsis of the talk.
Industry 4.0
Innovation of Products, Services and Business processes in ASEAN through Design Thinking.
Design Thinking may well be the mother of innovation without which any organization in the long-run risks getting extinct. In order to survive businesses in ASEAN have to evolve and in order to evolve they must innovate. This process can be applied to products, services and business processes. When someone ‘design thinks’ he or she experiments in a structured way. In this paper I have argued how this under-used tool could be used to improve the design of products - both tangible and intangible (i.e services) and how business processes can be improved and customer value increased. Design thinking could perhaps be one of the main catalysts in ASEAN’s aspirations to embrace Industry 4.0. As Industry 4.0 is going to bring mass-customization and personalization, design thinking is going to be ever more important since the fundamentals tenets of Design Thinking revolve around understanding human needs and delivering personalized experiences.
