Asia-Europe Institute (AEI), Centre for Asean Regionalism (CARUM) and ASEAN Headquarters

Professor Azirah Hashim, Executive Director of AEI and Director of CARUMOn 21-22 November 2016, Professor Azirah Hashim, Executive Director of AEI and Director of CARUM met with a number of diplomats and senior officials at ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta. The main purpose of the visit were:

• To seek advice in planning a major conference on Asia-Europe for 2017, assessing possible themes and participants.
• To seek assistance in developing cooperative links with government-to-government (Track 1), ASEAN-centred, institutions.
• To make certain that the University of Malaya (AEI and CARUM) strengthens its role as a stakeholder in ASEAN and ASEM processes, including the ASEM education secretariat.
