Prof. Bersick holds the Jean Monnet Chair of ‘The International Political Economy of EU-Asia Relations’ and heads the Department of 'International Political Economy of East Asia' at the Faculty of East Asian Studies at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), Germany. He is also Adjunct Professor at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA), Fudan University, Shanghai, and Visiting Professor at the Asia-Europe Institute (AEI), University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. His research areas cover the international political economy of Asia-Europe relations (esp. EU-China, EU-ASEAN, ASEM, BRI), East Asian integration, China as a regional and global actor and as international relations in Asia. One of his recent publications was China’s International Roles. Challenging or Supporting International Order? co-edited with Sebastian Harnisch and Jörn-Carsten Gottwald.
