Jens Allwood is professor of linguistics at the University of Gothenburg and Chairman of the Board of the Immigrant Institute. He has been involved in a number of EU projects and national projects focusing on immigration and education in intercultural communication, and has long experience in international education. He is one of the founders of the international Master in Communication Program at the University of Gothenburg. He is also director of the interdisciplinary cognitive science and communication oriented center SCCIIL at the same university. His research focuses on semantics and pragmatics. He is investigating spoken language interaction from several perspectives, e.g. corpus linguistics, computer modelling of dialog, sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics as well as intercultural communication.
