Dr Marty Natalegawa served as the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia from 2009-2014. Prior to this appointment, he was the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York from 2007–2009, serving as President of the UN Security Council. He had also been Ambassador to the Court of St. James and to Ireland. He served in several other distinguished positions in the Indonesian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, including as Director General for ASEAN cooperation. He is the recipient of several medals for service to the Indonesian nation. He was also made Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (KCMG) by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. He holds a PhD from ANU in Canberra, obtained his MPhil at University of Cambridge, and a BSc in Political Science from the London School of Economics.
