Breeding flies may sound peculiar, but black soldier fly (BSF) larvae is an alternative source of chicken and fish feed. BSF or its scientific name Hermetia Illucens, is a cheaper alternative to buying livestock feed from the market. They could be found in almost all over the world especially in the tropical weather of Malaysia. The larvae are easy to breed and clean as they are not a disease-vector and are not dangerous to humans. BSF also decomposed organic waste that could be turned into fertiliser. | ![]() |
