Doctors of internal medicine are medical specialists who have had special study and training focused on the detection, prevention, clinical assessment and treatment of adult diseases. Candidates for this program will be exposed to all aspects of this from most all specialties, learn appropriate communication skills and multidisciplinary team-based learning which incorporate wholistic management of patients. Doctors of internal medicine are also trained to provide cross specialty consultations on the medical management of patients from other specialties.
Doctors of internal medicine can also choose to sub-specialize in one of a number of internal medicine specialties- for example Cardiology.Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatology etc..
1) The programme of study comprises three stages as follows:
2) No candidate shall be permitted to proceed to Stage II of the programme of study unless he has passed the Part I Examination.
3) No candidate shall be permitted to proceed to Stage III of the programme of study unless he has passed the Part II Examination.
A non-Malaysian applicant whose degree is from a university or institution of higher learning where the medium of instruction for that degree is not the English language and where the applicant wishes to follow a programme shall be required:
